1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God 2 which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. 5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, 6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; 7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I Obedience of Faith

5218. ὑπακοή hupakoḗ; gen. hupakoḗs, fem. noun from hupakoúō (5219), to obey, listen to something, hearken. Obedience, compliance (Sept.: 2 Sam. 22:36), unknown in Class. Gr. Generally in the NT it refers to the obedience of a slave to a master (Rom. 6:16). Elsewhere it always refers to the faith which obeys God’s will in a special sense, of relationship and subjection to that which, in the sphere of divine power and revelation, is right (Rom. 5:19; Heb. 5:8). More especially, it refers to subjection to the saving will of God revealed in Christ and referred to as obedience to the truth (1 Pet. 1:22); obedience of faith (Rom. 1:5; 16:26); the unquestioning obedience that is demanded by Christ (2 Cor. 10:5). The word also stands alone as the manifestation of Christian faith (Rom. 15:18; 16:19; 2 Cor. 7:15; 10:6; Phile. 1:21; 1 Pet. 1:2, 14)

Subjectively meaning firm persuasion, conviction, belief in the truth, veracity, reality or faithfulness (though rare). Objectively meaning that which is believed, doctrine, the received articles of faith.

40. ἅγιος hágios; fem. hagía, neut. hágion (39), adj. from hágos (n.f.), any matter of religious awe, expiation, sacrifice. Holy, set apart, sanctified, consecrated, saint. It has a common root, hág-, with hagnós (53), chaste, pure. Its fundamental idea is separation, consecration, devotion to the service of Deity, sharing in God’s purity and abstaining from earth’s defilement.
