“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, ESV)

27/02/2022 – Morning Service: Gospel Basic 7 – Understanding judgment

Bible Readings:

Acts 17:16 – 34

Romans 2:1 – 16

Sermon Outline:

Romans 2:1–3 (NKJV)

1Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.

2But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.

3And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

I Five principles of judgement

  1. Judment will certainly come.
  2. Judgment is according to what we actually do, not what we say we are
  3. Judgment is accoding to facts
  4. Judgment will be according to the level of knowledge one actually has
  5. Judgment will be by the Lord Jesus Christ.

II One question

No one is redeemed except through unmerited mercy, and no one is condemned except through merited judgment.

Augustine

Nothing has contributed more powerfully to wean me from all that held me down to earth than the thought, constantly dwelt upon, of death and of the last judgment.

Augustine

We shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ on the basis of our performance, not our profession.

John Blanchard

We shall have to render an account of every privilege that was granted to us and of every ray of light that we enjoyed.
