Revelation 5:5 (NKJV)

5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

I  The deceitfulness of sin, the corruption of human nature and the sway of the Devil.

II  But God is in control.

Westminster Shorter Catechism Q. 11. What are God’s works of providence?

A. God’s works of providence are, his most holy, wise, and powerful preserving and governing all his creatures, and all their actions.

Heidelberg Catechism Q. 28.—What does it profit us to know that God has created, and by His providence still upholds, all things?

A. That we may be patient in adversity; thankful in prosperity; and for what is future have good confidence in our faithful God and Father, that no creature shall separate us from His love; since all creatures are so in His hand, that without His will they cannot so much as move.

III Opening up the scroll of human history and looking into its contents.

IV The God/man is the own who holds they key to the mystery of history.
