“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”” (1 Peter 4:8, NKJV)
“Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.” (Proverbs 10:12, NKJV)
I. The sin of malicious gossip.
II. Explanation – the God of love covers all the sins of all His chosen people.
““Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.” (Daniel 9:24, NKJV)
““In that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.” (Zechariah 13:1, NKJV)
III. Not a mere cover up – God’s grace of regeneration, repentance, sanctification and glorification in taking away sins from His people.
IV. The call to Christian love.
“Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.” (James 5:19–20, NKJV)
