Sermon Outline
John 15
1 “I am the true vine and my Father is the vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may be bear more fruit
I The true vine and the perfect man
Jer 2:21 Yet I had planted a noble vine, a seed of highest quality.
How then have you turned before Me
Into the degenerate plant of an alien vine?
Psalm 80:8 You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations and planted it.
II The Barren branches
6 If anyone does not abide in me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire and they are burned.
III The Father’s pruning
Hebrews 12
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
10 For they indeed for a few das chastened us as seemed best to them, ut for our profit that we may be partakes of His holiness
11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it
