“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, ESV)

12/01/2025 – Evening Service: Fly, run, walk

Bible Readings:

Colossians 3:1 – 4:1

Isaiah 40:12 – 31

Sermon Outline:

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Colossians 3:1–4 (NKJV)

1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.

2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Colossians 3:5 (NKJV)

5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Colossians 3:12–14 (NKJV)

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;

13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

Colossians 3:18–21 (NKJV)

18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

If I have observed anything by experience it is this: a man may take the measure of his growth and decay in grave according to his thoughts and meditations upon the person of Christ, and the glory of Christ’s Kingdom, and of His love.

Meditate on the Word in the Word

John Owen

The hearer of God’s Word ought to be like those animals that chew the cud; he ought not only to feed upon it, but to ruminate upon it.

Augustine

Meditation keeps out Satan.
It increases knowledge,
it inflames love,
it works patience,
it promots prayer,
it evidences sincerity.
