29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him. 1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

I  The necessity of the new birth

1. Faith in Christ.

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.

5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

2.  A new awareness and attitude to what is right and wrong.

1 John 2:29 (NKJV)

4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
