Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12

Sermon Outline:

5 Stanzas, each stanza 3 verses each.

The first stanza and the 5th, the last stanza – the ultimate success of the suffering servant.

The 2nd and the 4th stanzas, the suffering of the servant described.

The 3rd, the middle stanza is the heart of Isaiah 53 – the reason for the suffering.

Isaiah 53 is the heart of Isaiah, and the 3rd stanza is the heart of this song, the heart of the 3rd stanza is in verse 5.

Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

There are two speakers in this poem:

The lord God himself, God the Father.

Isaiah, representing the believing disciples of Christ the Lord.

The servant himself does not open his mouth at all in this Song, he is the silent sufferer.

I  This Song informs the ministry of our Lord.

II  It also instructs us about the Christian life.
